Mobility Technology

MTM.1.5 - DISCUSSION - EVOLUTION OF MOBILITY                     BY DEBBIE CRAWFORD

What mobility technology has had the greatest impact on today’s society and why?

Cell phones come to mind first when I think of mobility technology. And elaborating on the cell phone we can evolve to the smart phone a must have for digital person of todays society. I can think back when people were getting big by opening their flip phone with a flick of the wrist. I was thinking gee I want a flip phone.
And then thinking back even further I have think of the song "Operator" where the caller is begging for a connection while he fumbles for more change to feed into the payphone who ever thought the payphone would be obsolete, but thank god they are!
Now as time has progressed we have the best in mobility technology with the new Apple iPhone 7. Although as costly as a laptop, they also do as much, and more than a laptop. I remember not having an iPhone just the HTC smartphone which I thought was sufficient now I have a iPhone and I am amazed at the smooth operation of the device and now I too am constantly reading my emails surfing the web and taking photos with my phone. But the major blow is the amount of young children using and owning iPhones thanks to mom and dad.
I can look around the coffee shop right now and see the impact on society as 70% of the local Starbucks population has their nose almost pressed up against the glass of there smartphones I could be rude and snap a picture but I won't you will just have to take more word for it. So along with the ease of use and carrying the smartphone what other features make this High Tech item a must have in todays society? Mobile banking, mobile apps for everything especially order food deliveries and renewing books at the local library.
But important for me is reading my assignments from my classroom, and then turning them in via my iPhone. Other features I like are the video and photo technology. They are clear and of high quality. So when attending event no need to carry big camera's with lenses to attach or separate camcorders for video's. It's the world of Instagram and snapchat perfect with a smartphone. Another major use for the cell phone the ability to capture crimes in progress or photographing license plates of possible crime involved participants. Just photograph your injustice and take it to court with you or do so for the service of any victim they will love you forever. I mean how would you feel if you were able to save a communities struggles because of a drive by shooter that has never been caught but you got a picture of the license plate and no more drive bus for this guy right? Would you use your cell phone to aid a victim of a crime?
