             The Asia Rugby Championship, or ARC, is an annual rugby union competition held amongst national rugby sides within the Asia Rugby region. The competition was originally known as the Asian Rugby Football Tournament when founded in 1969, and was called the Asian Five Nations from 2008 to 2014.
             The winner of the competition's top devision is recognized as the rugby champion of Asia. The top division, sometimes referred to as the Tri Nations, includes the top three Asian teams each season. Division 1 includes the next four teams and Division 2 includes the next four. Division three is further divided geographically, with each of the West, East and South Central divisions including three teams.

              The Top League is Japan's premier rugby club competition, founded in2013. In 2016, the Sunwolves joined the Southern Hemisphere-based Super Rugby. The team is based in Tokyo but also plays home games in Singapore.

           The sport in Asia is currently dominated by Japan, the only Asian nation to be represented on the IRB's executive council. The Japanese national team are so far the only Asian team to have competed in the Rugby World Cup, having appeared in all seven tournaments so far. Japan have been announced as the hosts of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and will be the first Asian hosts of the tournament. Under the Japanese bid, Hong Kong and Singapore will also host matches.

             The sport of Rugby is a rugged sport which requires stamina, strength and grit to engage in this team sport. Normally when people mention the sport "Rugby" they think of the United Kingdom where the sport is very common. 
             The Rugby union in Asia is a growing sport, governed by the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU). The flagship tournament for promoting the sport in Asia is the Asian Five Nations. The (AFN) launched in 2008, now the Hong Kong (national team), Japan (national Team), Kazakhstan (national team), Sri Lanka (national team) and the UAE, compete in the main tournament.
